Victoria's Secret lingerie superstar, Alessandra Ambrosio, was the perfect model for the tailored jackets, and the signature sheath dresses, stretched and swathed to accentuate the voluptuous body at D & G this Fall 11/12.
For Fall, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana returned to a favorite theme, one that happens to be getting a lot of action in Milan this week: the masculine-feminine mix. Arizona Muse was the first model out, wearing a double-breasted black jacquard jacket, matching trousers cropped right below the knee, a porkpie hat, and oxfords. The hair team even gave her sideburns. This wasn't the molto sexy, cut-to-fit tailoring of a year ago, though. Madonna circa "Open Your Heart" is more like it.
Perhaps in honor of the Oscars, the motif was all about stars. The celestial kind, galaxies of them. They came in all sizes from pin-dot to huge, in prints, sequins, crystals, fur, giant dangling earrings and necklaces. They centered the feminine side of the collection, mostly alluring, skintight dresses as seen on Ambrosio (right).
