There are plenty of options for those who like a bit of excess next Autumn/Winter. Here we briefly recap the season's top trends.
Times are tough, says Karl Lagerfeld, life is hard - make fashion your weapon next winter, either with hardy masculine clothes (Chanel), or robust fabrics (Fendi). Or, says Miuccia Prada, with good old fashioned feminine allure - taking Sixties innocence (Prada) or Forties nostalgia (Miu Miu) as a reference.
Military: Versace’s sexy and strong woman gets a military inspired revamp for the fall 2011 season with metal embellishments, tailored coats and open toed boots. Lead by Abbey Lee Kershaw, models strutted down the runway in royal blue, pure white and stark black with statement pieces.
Snakeskin Gets a Makeover: Color me exotic. Snakeskin got splashed in bold hues for fall, making for one of the most striking trends of the season.
Oversized Knits: Cozy got supersized on the fall runways as designers sent out textured, languid sweaters that were big on proportions — not to mention chic. Also top of the list, wool raglan pieces that are luxurious and perfectly tailored.
Colour, Colour and More Colour: Cardinal red, neon yellow (see above, Victoria Beckham RTW), pop out orange, chic maroon, classic black, light grey, pale taupe grey, khaki and deep blue are the many shades seen this Autumn/Winter. Michael Kors went with amazing block colour, Thakoon with red and blue, black and yellow and print. Also, Gucci, Alberta Ferretti, Burberry Prorsum, Jonathan Saunders, Charles Anastase, Roksanda Ilincic, Osman, Paul & Joe, Lanvin went for headline hues.
Longer Length Remains: Following Autums/Winter 2010's lengething hem line, 2011 hems fell from the knee to the ankle, Vera Wang and Max Azria used this hem on flowy dresses in low key blush and taupe hues.
Brave the Cold with Fur: Following a bitter cold winter in New York and Europe, fur has become a staple piece. Luxurious furs looked new on coats at Donna Karan and Oscar de la Renta, while a fur trim collar on a sleek, silver satin dress from Ellen Cassis was flirty and fun
