Illusion was one of the key trends to emerge as New York Fashion Week entered its fourth day, with sheer looks making a discernible statement.
The heavyweights came out for Diane Von Furstenberg’s collection on Sunday, including the usual suspects: Anna Wintour, Rachel Bilson and Anderson Cooper. Sarah Jessica Parker was this season’s big arrival. Never one to shy away from the statement pieces, she wore a rose print off-the-shoulder dress — pretty but not exactly one of her most "must have" items.
Z Spoke Zac Posen: His SS11 show was less theatrical, but the fruit salad-inspired styles — t-shirts with apples and pineapples, among them — were colorful, cheerful and trendy, and would look appealing on retailers' racks
Derek Lam: His show was generally clean and refreshing - a palette in shades of ivory and tan got boosts from bursts of navy, black and a bit of indigo denim. His gowns this season were floor length (see right) in neutral-colored silk and ivory crepe with a tight bodice, high armholes and minimalistic in detail.
The light, airy feel of the clothes so far has an optimistic feeling that has prevailed at the spring 2011 previews at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
