One of the biggest weeks on the fashion calendar, New York Spring Fashion Week, came to a close on Thursday. The line between creative genius and aesthetically displeasing can be a precarious one in fashion. A few designers walked it closely during the spring 2012 shows at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
Numerous extremes were noted on the runways of New York Fashion Week Spring 2012, with everything from sherbet pastels, metallic, nostalgia to minimalism. While Ralph Lauren (below) went with feminine and pastel tones, Derek Lam for mid century luxury, Marc Jacobs opted for shimmery metallics in shapes reminiscent of 20s nostalgia. But the talk of the week centered on Marc Jacobs, and would he or wouldn't he be the new Galliano for Dior?
With all eyes on London this week, Tom Ford, Matthew Williamson and Christopher Kane with be unveiling their spring collection on the runways today and tomorrow.
