With just two weeks to go until the big day, speculation has been rife as to who is creating Kate's dress.
It isn't unusual for high profile celebrities to commission an extra wedding dress in case details of the first are leaked. But for Kate Middleton, one back-up is simply not enough. If rumours sweeping the fashion world are to be believed, Kate Middleton has commissioned three wedding dresses to make sure no one can second guess what she will be wearing on April 29.
The odds so far are on Alexander McQueen designer Sarah Burton (right), but the newest name to be thrown into the mix is veteran couturier Jasper Conran. Conran, who created Princess Margaret's daughter Lady Sarah Chatto's gown in 1994, denied the rumours but it is expected that all those involved will remain tight-lipped until the big day.
Last week, tongues were wagging when Kate's sister Pippa and mother Carole were spotted chatting to Alice Temperley outside her London boutique, prompting yet more rumours. But it isn't uncommon for bridesmaids to wear different designers to the bride and it may just be that Pippa is opting to wear Temperley for her role as maid of honour.
An insider from McQueen told Grazia magazine: 'Apart from when they are incredibly busy in the run-up to fashion week, everyone arrives at the same time. There have been lots of whispering and secret meetings at head office recently. Although we haven't been told, we think Sarah Burton is making Kate's gown.'
While Kate Middleton's wedding dress still remains a mystery, the world finally knows what she'll be wearing under it. The royal-to-be will don "glamorous and sexy" hosiery by Aristoc, Women's Wear Daily reports. As for the lingerie? Ultimo boss Michelle Mone received an OBE from Princess Anne at Buckingham Palace late last year, and since then, the ambitious businesswoman has had her sights set on designing Kate Middleton’s bridal lingerie. Michelle took the opportunity to reveal her vision for Miss Middleton, saying: ‘I have designed Kate's bridal lingerie for her, and I'm going to send the designs to her. I think Ultimo fits with her image.’ While we can't deny or confirm these reports, other contesters include Myla of London, Rigby & Peller and Agent Provocateur.
