Soft, Feminine & Sheer: Fall Couture Highlights

Fashion lovers gathered in Paris this week for the haute couture fall/winter 2011 collections. Paris Couture Fashion Week marks the start of International Fashion Weeks.

With the last of the Couture Shows last night, Azzedine Alaia closed the week with the designer gaining entry to his first ever haute couture show in Paris. Only a select few fashion VIP's received invites to the intimate presentation in the tiny Tunisian's headquarters in rue du Moussy in Paris' trendy Marais district, including Donatella Versace, film director Sofia Coppola and rap star-turned-designer Kanye West.

Earleir in the week, Elie Saab presented a somewhat more refined collection with softer, lighter and more delicate gowns. “It was very pretty and in the mood of what we have been seeing at the couture shows this week – it was light and much more understated from him,” said Vogue fashion director Lucinda Chambers.
