Nanette Lepore made a splash this season as she introduced playfully sweet swimwear in retro shapes and rose prints.

Nanette Lepore's RTW 2011 collection, filled with bright delights such as tangerine and plum, featured more casual looks than we'd have expected from the New York-based designer but it was yet another smash-hit! Introducing playfully sweet swimwear in retro shapes and rose prints, the designer invited friend John Forte (formerly of the Fugees), to play a live soundtrack for her show. Another theme that emerged was a deep-pocketed reference to the apron, to which Lepore declared, "I've been thinking about aprons and going back to work and manufacturing." The apron element worked its way through Lepore's quirkier cocktail dresses, her sportswear separates and into her playful but amorous evening wear, all in robust reds, rosy pinks and vibrant raspberries. Dedicating the collection to her mother, who recently passed, Lepore’s love for vintage shone through without looking dated or dowdy.
