Not long to go now, and speculation about both the style and the designer of Kate Middleton’s wedding dress has reached pure fashion fever pitch
With veteran designer Bruce Oldfield, Alexander McQueen creative director Sarah Burton, Alice Temperley, Jasper Conran and relatively unknown designer Sophie Cranston, of Libelula, all possible picks, Styleite.com caught up with one time Nina Ricci creative director Olivier Theyskens at the Tribeca Film Festival and, like every interview at the moment, the conversation got around to the royal wedding, and more specifically 'that dress'.
The Belgian designer, who is currently at the helm of Theory, claimed to know who was designing Kate Middleton's wedding dress, and almost let the name slip. But when the reporter asked him outright if Libélula's Sophie Cranston was 'the chosen one', as has been widely reported the past week, Theyskens claimed not to have even heard of her…
And with another grin, Theyskens and his insider information went off into the night. Does he know Sophie Cranston? Was he just teasing? It seems unlikely that Theyskens moves in the same circles as the British farmer's daughter and a quick cross-reference of their CV's reveals their paths haven't crossed professionally at least.
The fact that Theyskens says he "can't wait to see the dress _______ is making", points to it being fashion insider's favourite, Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen, but thankfully, it's only three more days until we finally find out once and for all.
