Come Spring/Summer 2009 we are all going to be hitting the beach; preferably one of the crystal clear blue oceans of Tahiti, or maybe even Thailand? But then again there is no shortage of stunning beaches right on our door step. What are the trends that have influenced and inspired designers for their SS09/SS10 collections? Here we take a look at some of the hottest trends for this season. 

1. SS09/10 will be all about the one-piece. We love the revival of the one-piece. It’s oh so chic and glamorous. With blush coloured bandage suits, Hervé Léger by Max Azria's Spring/Summer 2009 show at New York Fashion Week saw black two-pieces fused with midriff-spanning cut-outs, the brand known for bringing back skin tight sexiness revived another eighties favourite: the swimsuit!

2. While the return of the classic one-piece is evident, variations on this style including cut-outs and monokinis will be gracing poolside and shorelines in a modern chic fashion. Cut-away bikinis are huge! What is the Cut-Away Bikini? It features parts of the bikini that are actually left out in order to reveal more skin. From the sides to the top or the middrift, sections of the bikini are actually left cut-away to reveal those sexy curves of a woman's body. 

3. Also taking a front seat will be lower leg lines embracing a retro look in an updated way. We love Seventh Wonderland's 1920s inspired looks.

4. Laser cut detail, ruffles and florals were all evident at Mercedes Benz Fashion Swim Week.

5. Poolside glam is easily achievable with the right accessories. Gold bangles, wooden wedges and a pair of oversized frames from Miu Miu...and square frames are making a comeback!
