Rising star, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, is fast becoming one of the most sought after models of our time. She talked candidly to Elle and Vogue recently about her "baby fat" and learning how to walk on the runway.
British model and actress, Rosie Huntinton-Whiteley, best known for modelling for Victoria's Secret and replacing Megan Fox as the lead female character in the upcoming film Transformers: Dark of the Moon, is the cover of Elle's July issue. Photographed by Terry Tsiolis and styled by Anne-Marie Curtis, hot Victoria’s Secret beauty who is dating actor Jason Statham told Elle magazine (July 2011 issue) that when she started modeling fashion executives told her to lose ‘baby fat’ if she wanted to make success. "When I started modeling, I was definitely heavier. I was quite voluptuous in fact. I had a real baby face and baby fat. But I was a baby! I was told I had to get into better shape, but I’m quite stubborn so I didn’t.”
On working with Michael Bay (Transformers Director): Michael was great. We shot a commercial in 2009 for Victoria’s Secret, that’s where we met. Then he sent me an email last summer. He said, “I’d like to put you on tape for this role for Transformers.” I figured it was going to be a small role, or an extra. I didn’t jump on the idea, but I believe you should always take a meeting, so I went to the casting and went on tape. A couple days later, Michael sent me a message saying, “We want you for the female lead, is that something you’d consider?” I met Shia that evening, then a week later I was doing a screen test, and two weeks after that I was doing my first scene. So it happened really, really quick.
In a recent interview with Vogue UK, Rosie also revealed she wasn't always a natural on the runway: "You know who taught me to walk? Two Jamaican gay guys, who I lived with for a brief time in London when I was 16," Huntington-Whiteley revealed. "One was a model and one was a model agent. They were called Humphrey and Donin. Gay men are usually pretty good at the model strut." And it looks like the twosome did a pretty good job of training Huntinton-Whiteley - we've seen her strut her stuff down the runway for Victoria's Secret shows and she looks pretty amazing!
